Final Fantasy XIV was not what the fans expected when it was released. However, over time, the game showed that Square Enix did not give up on one of its star products when offering the Final Fantasy saga as an MMO at its height.
The work was arduous and took many years. Still, today we have a tremendous title that does justice to one of the industry’s most brilliant and long-lived franchises.
Since then, multiple expansions and patches have broadened Eorzea’s horizons. It was patch 3.55 that introduced the system of Custom Deliveries, which in turn, keeps getting expanded every other new patch.
The Custom Deliveries system allows crafters and gatherers to build and work towards satisfying their clientele. You can craft or gather specific collectibles for your clients. Then, if you keep them happy enough, they will toss some Gil, exp, and unique items.
As a people pleaser and completionist, I couldn’t pass up on Custom Deliveries. Having individual clients gave me a sense of entrepreneurship that crafting or gathering for a guild did not.
Here is a thorough Custom Deliveries FFXIV guide on unlocking the Custom Deliveries system, gathering clients, and making the most of this experience.

Custom Deliveries FFXIV Guide
Custom Deliveries: The Basics
A custom delivery system is a form of collectibles, or you make crafts or gather items for various NPC clients.
Each week you’re given 12 turns total for these clients. Since each client takes 6. a week, you can choose two clients to work with weekly.
Completing these turn-ins rewards you with a substantial amount of scripts and XP points. In addition, as you complete these turn-ins, you also earn a reputation with your clients. Reputation gets displayed in heart gauges.
You will follow along with the storyline with each individual as you fill in these hearts, which can lead to achievements and other rewards.
The items that they have you craft are unique to this content. You’ll be able to pick up the materials you need from a vendor, who will always be in the general area of each collectible client.
As for the gathering side, you will still need to go out and search for the ore herbs and fish in the open world, but your gathering log will give you an idea of where you need to be.
All things considered, I recommend giving this system a try. It is a fantastic way to get bonus XP and scripts every week while you’re leveling.
Plus, when you max out your clients, you can dress them up in glimmer.
What Is a Collectible?
Collectables are unique items you obtain via specific crafts or particular gathering items. These cannot be sold on the Market Board, nor can they be made of high quality in the usual sense. Instead, they serve purely as materials for the collectible and script system.
With these, you try to craft an item as if it were going to be high quality. Then, however, you’re given a new rating bar that shows the current status of your collectible. Naturally, you’ll want to get this number as high as possible.
As the collectibles usually have three-tier ratings, a minimum collectability, a middle-of-the-road, and a maximum collectability will give you more XP and tokens. These items can be turned in at every major city in the game.
Some NPC stations allow you to turn in your collectible items or currency, known as scripts. These scripts you can look at as crafting and gatherings versions of tomestones. You can buy things such as materia, crafting materials, and gathering gear with them.
If you are below the level cap, they will offer you a sizable amount of XP points, making them an attractive leveling option.
Must do: Unlock Collectibles and Custom Deliveries
To unlock this system, you must first complete the MSQ quest “The Better Half,” which will then unlock the level 50 quest “Inscrutable Taste.”
Then, you need to talk to the Collectible Appraiser, whichever expansion’s central city you want to farm collectibles for, to unlock the Scrip Exchange for that expansion.
Once that requirement is met, you will need a crafter or gatherer at level 60 or higher. This will allow you to pick up the “Go West, Craftsman” quest from Geimlona within Idyllshire at X:5.8, Y:7.0.
Should do: Purchase Cordials and Hi-Cordials with Seals
Once collectibles have been unlocked, we only need to get started is Cordials.
Cordials increase your GDP by 300 or 350 if they are high quality. Some Hi-Cordials can increase your GDP by 400.
Hi-Cordials can be purchased with white Scrips and can also be obtained from gathering quests.
Cordials can be purchased from your Grand Company for 500 GC seals each.
This sounds like a lot, but one expert delivery of level 90 gear will give you 1800 seals, which is 3 Cordials. If you are short on seals, you can farm expert dungeons for gear and turn those into your grand company.
Client Zhloe
How to Unlock
With that out of the way, you can start gathering your clients.
Geimlona will offer you the “Arms Wide Open” quest at the location where we previously found them. This will lead you to unlock the Zhloe Aliapoh client.
You’ll be able to work through her quest and gatherables as you choose.

Parting Words
The Custom Deliveries system has proven to be a weekly activity that is here to stay. With each expansion, we get the opportunity to bag a new client. As a result, our business grows and grows more with time.
It’s one of those additions you didn’t know you needed until you got it. Who expected this MMORPG about a land’s savior to include the opportunity to create your own business? It raised some eyebrows initially, but I can assure you that most players are at the edge of their seats every Tuesday for their 12 custom deliveries to reset.
Square Enix’s additions to the game showcase that even though Final Fantasy XIV’s storyline may have concluded, wonders will never cease.
