The world of Final Fantasy XIV has something for everyone and whether you are planning to simply wander around the bucolic landscapes and take in the gorgeous scenery or perhaps you instead have an inclination to find the thrill of riding a Chocobo around the world! In that case, you may find that you will want to have a lot of Gysahl Greens FFXIV on hand ready to go at any moment.
Our feathery friends certainly enjoy having them, so being sure to have a stockpile of them will give you an ever-present advantage while roaming through Eorzea. Of course, the added benefit of making your Chocobo happy is always a welcome addition!
Key Details of Gysahl Greens Up Front
Gysahl Greens can be used to summon your Chocobo in Eorzea when you have got a Chocobo. If you just use one Gysahl Green, then you will summon a Chocobo for 30 minutes. However, if you offer the Chocobo multiple Gysahl Greens, you will be able to summon the Chocobo for 60 minutes instead.
Personally, I have strangely been able to summon my Chocobo without Gysahl Greens so it may have changed with recent updates, although the mainframe for Gysahl Greens is still there and so the information will still be relevant!
Gysahl Greens can be grown, bought from merchants for 36 Gil or the market board, and used to craft other items such as meals for your Chocobos known as ‘feeds’ to enhance some of your Chocobos stats for a while depending on what feed you create.
The Background and Lore of Gysahl Greens
Gysahl Greens have been present in the Final Fantasy series since Final Fantasy III. Within that installment of the series, they were used to summon the ‘Fat Chocobo’ that many players will be familiar with.
Perhaps it rings a bell because of the Final Fantasy VII Remake that allowed you to have the Fat Chocobo as an adorable summon! Even further, within Final Fantasy III, players bought Gysahl Greens actually from the town named ‘Gysahl’ and so it is clear to see where they got their name.
The vegetable has been linked to Chocobos ever since throughout the series. The official item description present within Final Fantasy XIV is: “A leafy vegetable indigenous to the Near East. While too bitter for most people’s tastes, chocobos are known to enjoy the flavor, and thus the greens are often used as fodder for the animals.”
Overview of Gysahl Greens and How to Get Them Within Final Fantasy XIV
As noted, one of the main reasons for using Gysahl Greens is to summon Chocobos and feed them with crafted recipes to enhance their stats. The vegetable is a ‘Miscellany item’ and they can be purchased for 36 Gil from various Vendors throughout Eorzea.
Of course, if 36 Gil costs more than you would like to spend then you are in luck! You can also buy them from the Market Board for prices such as 39 Gil for 99 of the item. A massive bargain indeed!
To find them on the Market Board, you can do so quicker by filtering the items and equipment. Scroll down on the left-hand side of the board until you reach the ‘Items’ category. You can then filter by ‘Miscellany’ items and also filter by searching for ‘Gysahl Greens’ in the top search bar and you will be able to find them.
Make sure that you are not paying above 36 Gil for just one from the Market Board if you are planning to get them that way. As players choose the prices of the items, some players get greedy! When you have the Gysahl Greens, you can start to use them in the way you want to and if you decide to sell them, they will get you 1 Gil. Better to keep them for the Chocobos I’d say!
